1919 – five years before his death – Kafka wrote
the Letter to his Father.
He was at this time 36 years old and a mature writer, that had already confronted the ghost of his father in some of his most important works – like The Judgment, The Metamorphosis and The Trial.
„Why are you afraid of me? “
This question and some conversations with Ottla (his sister) can belong to the causes, that conducted he to the writing of the letter. But no one knows the real reasons that brought Kafka to fill 103 pages with critical impressions of his childhood and education.
The letter was never given to the father. Und just in 1950 in his complete works published.

A carta nunca foi entregue ao pai. E publicada somente em 1950 em sua obra completa.
